BlackZilians Tie Fastest UFC KO In History Ryan Jimm's

July 23rd, 2012 03:04 PM MST

Deerfield Beach, FL – “WOW!!! Ryan Jimmo just tied the fastest KO in UFC history,” tweeted Dana White, President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Just seven seconds into his UFC debut, Ryan Jimmo entered the record books of the world’s largest mixed martial arts promotion and put the Blackzilians in the spotlight with his don’t blink right hand knockout over Anthony Perosh.

“I wanted everyone to know that I was capable of doing that,” said Jimmo of his record-tying KO. “I knew I had that in me, and so did my trainers, and they helped bring it out. I had an incredible camp down at JACO Hybrid Training Center with the Blackzilians. There is so much talent under one roof there, and just being around that level and that caliber of fighting makes you so much better.”

“It has been a blessing to have Jimmo join our management and the Blackzilians,” said Glenn Robinson, President, Authentic Sports Management. “His skills are better than anyone has witnessed. He is dedicated, works hard and truly has the mindset to accomplish his dreams. I’m happy he’s a member of Team JACO and that he’s a part of the ASM family.”

As a result of his debut performance, Jimmo walked away with the UFC’s Knockout of the Night honors and bonus.

Jimmo joined Authentic Sports Management and the Blackzilians in March of this year. Of his decision to move to South Florida, Jimmo said, "Glenn gave me a platform and the chance to revive my career at a time when not a lot of people believed in me. He gave me everything I needed to succeed, and I am so thankful for that.”

Fighting out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Jimmo, 6'2" with a professional record of 17-1-0, started martial arts training when he was just three years old. He started formal MMA training seven years ago at the age of 23. Various ranking sources cite Jimmo as 18th in the world at 205 pounds. He made his debut for the UFC as a competitor on Season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter after successfully navigating the tryouts. However, he took a loss against Antwain Britt early on in the series, but not before leaving a positive impression with UFC President Dana White. Jimmo then returned to Canada, and fought for the Maximum Fighting Championship organization, defeating every light heavyweight he fought in the organization, and eventually capturing the title in February 2011. He successfully defended his title twice, most recently against former UFC fighter "Sokoudjou." "The Big Deal" was expected to make his promotional debut in the UFC against Karlos Vemola on January 20, 2012 at UFC on FX, but he was forced to withdraw after he injured his right ankle. Jimmo’s fight against Perosh was his first fight with the UFC.

Jimmo trains with the Blackzilians as part of Team JACO at JACO Hybrid Training Center in Delray Beach, Florida. Fans can follow Jimmo on Twitter @ryanjimmo.
