Deerfield Beach, Fla. – Authentic Sports Management® today announced the addition of highly-ranked lightweight Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante to the upcoming “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” event, which is set to take place Saturday, July 30 at Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., near Chicago. Gesias will take on another lightweight with an impressive record in Lyle “Fancy Pants” Beerbohm. The main card, headlined by a heavyweight bout between fighting legend Fedor Emelianenko and current Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Dan Henderson, will broadcast live on Showtime®.

“I’m so happy to get back in the cage…it was unfortunate about my last fight, and I feel bad for Justin,” said Cavalcante.  “I want to give thanks to all my fans for their support, and to Authentic Sports Management and Strikeforce for putting me on the July 30 fight card.”

Cavalcante (15-4-1-2) is coming off an unfortunate “no-contest” decision with Justin “The Silverback” Wilcox. These two tangled at “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum” in June, and the scrap was just heating up when Gesias accidentally caught Wilcox in his eye with his finger. “The Silverback” was unable to continue, and the fight was stopped and ruled “no contest.” Wanting to get back in the cage as soon as possible, “JZ” eagerly accepted this fight with Beerbohm.

Training with the newly-formed Imperial Athletics fight team alongside fellow ASM® fighters, known as the “Blackzilians” Jorge Santiago, Michael Johnson, Rashad Evans, Anthony Johnson and Danillo and Yuri Villefort, Gesias has been sharpening his skills, and will be ready to show the world that he is one of the best lightweights in the sport.

“JZ has been training hard for a long time, and what happened with Justin Wilcox was an unfortunate situation,” said Glenn Robinson, President, Authentic Sports Management. “We are thankful that Justin is okay. I would also like to thank Sean Shelby for being a great matchmaker and for moving so quickly to get Gesias back into action.  Cavalcante vs. Beerbohm will be an exciting fight, and I know Gesias will give fans a great fight and showcase his real skills to the world.”

Cavalcante’s opponent at “Fedor vs. Henderson” is a tough, all-around fighter with a penchant for exciting bouts. A former drug addict, Beerbohm (16-2) has transformed himself into a lightweight contender with a huge fan following. “Fancy Pants” is a dangerous opponent, and with a lot at stake in this bout, JZ will come to the fight prepared for a three-round war.

“Beerbohm is a tough guy, and a good opponent for me. I just hope he is ready,” said Cavalcante. “I’m going to make sure this is a fantastic fight for my fans, and that I give them an impressive win July 30.”

“Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson” is a stacked card that will feature a main event of former PRIDE® Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko taking on the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Dan Henderson. The co-main event will showcase two of the world’s best female fighters in Strikeforce Women’s Welterweight Champion Marloes Coenen and title challenger Miesha Tate. Also on the card will be anticipated matchups between Tim Kennedy and Robbie Lawler, Paul Daley and Tyron Woodley, and Tarec Saffiedine and Scott Smit, respectively.
